Can't believe it's been almost 5 years. I still think about you every day. And don't worry, all the records I inherited from you are clean, pristine, and get so much listening time. Especially Daitro, and I bet you wouldn't have expected that lol.

hehe yeah. Deftones are one of those bands I've always been aware of but had written off for some stupid reason... turns out I really enjoy them, and I've been bingeing them pretty hard for the last 2 or 3 weeks. Which Tarentel album(s) did you listen to? Some of their stuff is more along the lines of conventional post-rock, and some is extremely left field. As a general rule, the later in their discography, the stranger the music.

Hey there you big Tarentel guy, are you a gear nerd by any chance? or do you happen to know any details about Tarentel's sound? Other than some random info I've found on discogs I can't seem to find what they used to craft their songs. So far, I've spotted a Juno 60, Rhodes, Jazzmasters, Boss pedals, AC30 and some obscure amps in the 3-4 pictures I've seen of them.

Man, this is awesome! I'm personally not obsessed with them to that point of wanting to know every single detail (yet!) but as a gear nerd it's always nice to see some gear porn shots, specially from this almost pre-internet band which also happen to be amazing! Thanks for taking the time, I really appreciate it!

No worries at all! I’m always excited when someone shows interest in the band. They are honestly so singular and incredible and get pretty much zero love. I mean, I get it as they are so inaccessible and pretty obscure, but it’s still too bad. Their entire discography is amazing, especially the later stuff which is utterly mind-shattering. I’ve never heard anything else like Ghetto Beats on the Surface of the Sun.

I’m just missing their Latency 12” and a 3x3” mini-CD set that features them for my collection to be complete. I still kick myself for missing an eBay auction for Latency back in I want to say 2010. I didn’t even bid as I figured it would be out of my budget, ended up selling for less than $100 (which I would 100% pay). Haven’t seen one for sale since.

Things have been pretty good, late-Tarentel buddy! Craving more noise like that, as always. I actually caught Trap Them last month. New album is solid, though nothing special in terms of direction. Their performance kicked ass though. Vocalist's legs were injured, so he was on his knees on stage with padding on his legs. Despite that, he still had a ton of energy and was giving it everything he had. How have you been? And have you listened to Yautja?

Haha, I love it but it is a lot different than Mirrored or Gloss Drop. It feels like they specifically tried to contain their sound into as small of a space as possible. It's like the polar opposite of Mirrored.

Duuuude, so much Tarentel! Know of any bands that you would say are on the same level as late-tarentel?

Thanks man! I got into Young Widows because I saw it on your page in relation to a lot of other shit I like.

I took a peek at your BTEOT listens. You have demo tracks/Anatomy of a Bad Time? I'm jealous! How do they sound?

Thanks for the add! Yeah I need a new Battles album badly. Interested to see where they go next. I never got to see BTEOT live either. I don't know of any bands that combine those styles and make it awesome. The guitar work is so good.

I know but I don't like the new style of Autechre. I'm talking about Exai and L-Event. Huh... LP5, EP7, Gabrage, Confield, Chiastic Slide are best in my own opinion. Besides i haven't listen Autechre for last year. Not for my mood. Speedcore, Glitchcore and Rhythmical Noise i like more than IDM now.

Sorry to hear that you can't get into Virgins; I'm sure that's a shame for you. Another thing I've noticed is that his others seem to be relatively beatless/without rhythm, whereas Virgins seems to maintain a rhythm throughout most of it. In that sense, I suppose it's not as ambient or ethereal as his others, which have more of a floaty, weightless aura. Mayhaps that has something to do with it? Also, that dude's charts are just embarrassing haha.

Well I just got into him quite recently via Virgins and was really impressed, so I think I'm biased towards that one a bit just because it was my gateway, though it seems to be a lot more forceful and prompt (intrusive? aggressive? if these are the the right words... I'm not really sure) than his others. Now I'm really into Ravedeath. Ravedeath and Harmony are immensely relaxing, yet simultaneously really adventuresome, like I'm embarking on an auditory journey of sorts. Excellent reading/studying music for me. I was just curious since you have the most plays for him than I've seen of any artist.

Hello there. You seem to be well acquainted with him, so I was wondering what your favorite Tim Hecker album was?
