Who do you think is super good! I think the groove on that can easily feel like overplaying in the wrong song but it goes so well with the accents in the guitars and the energy of the vocals that makes it work really well. Like the drums blend into the guitar sometimes which i love. My favourite drum line has always been obstacle 1. In fact, the drum line on that song was what got me to dive deeper into interpols discography (and lead to me being insane abt them). That chorus groove that switches between three different mini-grooves is soooo good and i hadnt heard anything like it before. Even now its one of my favourite things to play on the drums. All the other parts in that song are incredible as well. I think its a great example of sams approach to drumming which is creating really interesting arrangements without feeing the need to play a bunch of fills which is what a lot of drummers do

hbu? how long have you been playing drums? do you play other instruments? (: and… any song recommendations? (talking about great drum parts) i’d recommend ‘Why Won’t They Talk to Me?’, ‘Let it Happen’, and ‘Sestri Levante - Live’ by Tame Impala, ‘London Calling’ by The Clash. Also ‘Arpeggiator’ by Fugazi has been living in my ears for some weeks, it kind of reminds me of ‘Flight of Fancy’ hahah. Hope you enjoy these recommendations and i expect yours (:

renegade hearts has a really nice bass line, i actually have to give credit to my friend (who is a bassist lol) for pointing that out. ive been playing drums for about 2 years now. as for other instruments, ive been trying to learn guitar but Not Very Well lol. I can play most of obstacle 1 and like the beginning of not even jail and thats about it lol. I would love to actually learn someday though (i think it would be SO cool to learn bass but ive never even tried lol). also i loooove the bass and guitars on the new. oh man that second half of mostly instrumental is probably some of interpols best stuff--the detuning/tuning of the guitars is SOOO cool and that bass line is my fav of any interpol song. Thanks for the recs! all really nice choices, thanks for putting them on my radar. especially arpeggiator, thats ones sick, i especially love the ending. ur right about its similarities with flight of fancy, it has that whirring buzzing feeling thats just sooooo good!!!

Grace by jeff buckley has always been one of my favourite drum parts. I think it often gets overshadowed/underappreciated bc Everything Else on that song is just beyond stellar, but the drums are pretty subtle (until the last part) and almost melodic its really beautiful. id recommend watching a drum cover on yt so you can really *see* whats going on. some other drum parts i like are naive by the kooks, son of sam by elliott smith, and airbag by radiohead. also, the song that got me into drumming (two years before i actually started lol) was runaway by half alive, the drum part still holds up. just really cool. another song rec, not necessarily for the drum part but actually more for the bass that maybe u would like if u like interpol is all mapped out by the departure (SUPER underrated band that only had one record... wish more people talked about them!!!)
