I should listen to melodic DM more. Oh here's a good recommendation: Corpset. No clean vocals. They do have very melodic sounding guitars.

Stuff like early At the Gates, Eucharist, Desultory, Sentenced ("Pohjola/North"-era) definitely belongs in death metal. However, for example, early In Flames and Dark Tranquillity, Gates of Ishtar (from Norrland, this is why I don't use the "Göteborg-sound" tag), Dissection, The Moaning and bands/substyles influenced by this type of sound – they are something on its own, for sure – back in their early days most of them (except Dissection) didn't even see themselves as death metal bands. Their old interviews contain many more references to heavy metal and black metal, even folk music sometimes. I think one of the first ('94 demo flyers) Swedish bands to use "melodic death metal" tag for self-description was Naglfar, yet they're widely known as a black metal band.

I have to say... this must be the worse Death Metal subgenre IMO. Mainly because I used to listen a lot of Metalcore bullshit in the past, but still, when I go to have one listen to Melodeath I can hear that similiar sound... Fucking annoys me.

Yup, not my cup of tea. Tbh I need to be more clear, I hate Melodeath overall. Obviously there's some few exceptions that is done damn right. Inferi's album The Path of Apotheosis and The End of an Era are good examples of well done Melodeath. They're are pretty technical as well but it doesn't invalidate their melodic aspect. Therefore, It's just a matter of how it's done. Yet it doesn't change the fact that most of this subgenre sucks.

Well, I don't agree with you, but maybe we are not refering to the same. When I think in Metal Death Melodic I think in Insomnium, At the Gates, In Flames (old era), Norther, Kalmah, Wintersun, Ensiferum... I haven't hear enought Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility, Opeth or Children of Bodom, but they are always praised.... And in a more black oriented aspect, Catamenia. I suppose that you refer to metalcore aspects. I don't like core at all.

So, do you hate melodeth because it reminds you of the thousands of shitty metalcore children who are trying to imitate melodeth? Lol It's like hating thrash metal because of hundreds of boring groove and mallcore bands.

I just realized that I like melodeath more than regular metal. Okay so I know the popular ones, does anyone have any recommendations for me? I know In flames, soilwork, and scar symmetry really well and I'm familiar with CoB, Arch Enemy, DT, and DevilDriver.
