Fans of old school death metal should check out Creeping Death and Frozen Soul. Both have recent releases from this year. Also check out Grand Cadaver. Their debut is good imo.

Schuldiner, Masvidal and Lemay are in a superior league.

Another observation I've made about Death Metal is the weird gap within old school fans of the genre. OG Death Metal fans (as in people who were actually there in the late 80s and early 90s) are either really chill, intelligent people with a wide range of taste or angry cavemen burnouts who drank their brain cells away years ago. I also believe in 15-20 years the Deathcore fanbase will basically be in the same boat.
