It was 2025, the Grammys were awarded for best rock performance by the Beatles and for best rock album by the Rolling Stones 😂 and that's awesome!

Here's a bit of obscure trivia, a rockabilly artist named Andy Anderson formed a band called "The Rolling Stones" in 1954. Did anyone know that?

Yes, that's right! Rockabilly musician Andy Anderson formed a band called The Rolling Stones in Starkville, Mississippi, in 1954/1955. The band was very successful in the region and played at local events. Later, they tried to get a record deal with Sun Records in Memphis, but their music was never released. However, this band has no connection to The Rolling Stones, which wasn't formed until 1962. - see wikipedia

“I, Anton A. Newcombe, do solemnly swear that the ghost of Brian Jones came to me in the studio and asked me to make this record. P.S. He also asked that I kick the shit out of old Mick and Keith for ripping off his band, girl and money, having him murdered, being glad he’s dead, and for not being very nice people.” — from Brian Jonestown Massacre “Take it from the Man!”

Considering that The Beatles shall not be considered in any of these debates, this is undoubtly the greatest band of all time.

The version of the murder that was planned by managers is more plausible than the sudden conflict in a pool. Without Brian they became yet another pops.

And despite all their outliving, they never made an album as good as any of the Beatles' later ones (excluding Let it Be lmfao)

I could never get into The Rolling Stones, despite being a Beatlemaniac... where do I start?

Of their earlier stuff, Out Of Their Heads and Aftermath (US versions for both). And then any and all of their albums from Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile on Main St. That run of four albums is pretty much perfect.

Been getting around to it again, I've been sticking with the UK versions. "Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass)" is a good compilation that helped me a lot. "Aftermath" for me doesn't really do it for me, except some great tracks (#1, #4, #5, #9). "Between the Buttons" has been a great cohesive LP for me, so far. Still need to retry their earlier R&B roots LPs and their R&B revival from 68 forward. We'll see how it goes.

My five year old was able to identify “Rolling Stones” by their logo on a YouTube quiz despite not knowing they were a band. Since then we’ve been listening to their a discography in the car and he told me he loves Get Off My Cloud, Brown Sugar, You Can’t Always Get What You Want and “the real Paint it Black” (as opposed to the cover by Sum-41 lol). He also said “they should be called the Rocking Stones because they rock”. Decent taste tbh.

The Rolling Stones truly are the greatest rock & roll band in history. It's easy to overlook it as there are plenty of bands that rock harder, and plenty of bands that are more sophisticated, but nobody rocks and rolls like them Stones. Within their formula they've explored all the roots leading to the foundation of that beautiful genre. Keith provided the soul; the ungodly easiness in writing those beautiful guitar lines, Mick added the literary and socially aware lyrics that often balance on the thin line between arrogance and pure brilliance, but never cross it; Charlie kept the whole group intact. Their willingness to play all around the world and inocluate their audiences with the evergreen sounds of freedom has truly earned them their place in the musical Pantheon. From immorality to immortality – as so often happens in life. The Stones are life, man.

I think I am not exaggerating when I say that black and blue is not only a very underrated album by the rolling stones but also by music in general, it is a masterpiece, the musical production is sublime, the sound they found, the mix of the guitars, the pleasant influence of Afro-descendant rhythms... the guitar of "hey negrita" incredible ballads like "memory motel" or "fool to cry" the jazzy "melody" the guitar madness in "crazy mama" and "hot stuff", the sound at its maximum expression made into a record.

There's a well near my farm and every day at 3:21 pm a loud crash is heard coming from it, like the sound of a sledgehammer hitting steel, followed by 30 seconds worth of clawing sounds, as if a wild animal is trying to climb out. Whenever I investigate the well, however, it's completely silent and there's nothing down there except for the decomposing corpse of my former brother-in-law.

They are my personal favorite band of all time. Their first 16 albums range from good to great to classic. Even their early work (pre aftermath) is underrated. I highly recommend if you listen to em to listen to them in mono. “Rolling stones in mono” is available on spotify and apple music as well. Albums like “Beggar’s Banquet” “Their Satanic Majesties” “Out Of Their Heads” “Aftermath” and “Between The Buttons” are amazing classic albums with awful stereo mixes. But in mono they rock so hard and you can hear how a lot of their work is proto punk in some ways

Them losing Brian Jones was the BEST thing to happen to them. Their early stuff is mostly R&B wannabe rubbish. Out Of Our Heads, Aftermath, Between The Buttons, and Beggars are only exceptions. Thank goodness for their 70s era
