Got to say, I was very much blown away at how good they were when I went to see them last week. Usually a 'legacy' band can be hit or miss, but they were so tight and delivered such an experience close to hearing the records. I think Mark seemed quite agitated due to some issues with the venue, but started to feel the crowd once as they were all singing along.

Heard a lot of people talking about how good Script of the Bridge was and listened to it for the first time. I gotta say this is easily in the top 3 best post punk albums I've heard, it might actually be the best post punk album.

Script of the Bridge is the best post-punk album, one of the best albums overall. It has so many great ideas in every song, the atmosphere and emotion on the record is just unmatched and there are so many powerful, larger than life moments in the album like the chorus in 'Monkeyland' and the bridge part on 'Thursday's Child'.

I didn't "get " them until I listened to Time the End of Time. Now I can't stop. What a beautiful band.

The Chameleons are the 2nd best ever band, from Great Britain , behind Iron Maiden !! After them, the 3rd best , is Pink Floyd, and the 4th best is 'And Also the Trees.' The 5th best is Queen, 6th - Marillion, 7th - The Beatles, 8th - Anathema, 9th - 'Sad Lovers and Giants' and 10th is YES, 11th is Genesis, 12th is The Cure , 13th is Paradise Lost, 14th is Deep Purple, 15th is Led Zeppelin, 16th is King Crimson, 17th is Siouxsie and the Banshees, 18th is The Smiths, 19th is My Dying Bride, and 20th is Fields of the Nephilim.

Dream pop, gothic rock-inflected post-punk. No wonder they’re my (underrated) favorites in the genre!!

To all the people asking why they are not more well-known The Chameleons were the victims of a particular mistake for bands (UK bands at least) in the 80s: from about 1982, if you are an 'alternative' band, do not sign to a major label. You lose cred, could not appear in the Independent charts, and Indie labels - through Rough Trade - had solved the biggest drawback to being on an Indie label before the early mid 80s (distribution). You 'rose without trace' by signing to a major. So, Perfume Garden, for instance would be (even) more of an 'indie classic' if it had been *actually* indie.
