saw these guys back in september when they performed their toronto date with live and soul asylum. easily the best concert i've ever been to, genuinely. jeff is a really nice replacement for scott, and even dedicates songs and setlists to the late frontman. as far as jeff's vocal talents go, he does really good with the 90s hits and absolutely killed it when they performed purple in full. live and soul asylum also killed it but stp especially stole the show when they came on, absolutely phenomenal and i'm more than proud to say i got to see three legendary 90s bands live.

Listening to these guys reminds me of driving around in my dad's Toyota pickup at like 5 years old lmao

Scott was a better vocalist than anyone in the Big Four--Kurt, Layne, Eddie AND Chris (sorry Chris).

i honestly don't think scott is comparable, at least not to eddie and chris. all great vocalists but they're too stylistically different imo.

i agree. i gave the stuff without scott a shot for a while after the 2018 album came out but after watching many jeff gutt performances with the band i woke up to how much of a tryhard he is and how what they had just can't be replicated. jeff is the stp version of an elvis impersonator, and how obvious it is feels disrespectful to entertain their entire modern bullshit as anything but a depressing imitation of the past. chester brought his own voice and energy to the band at least. high rise was a much more generic and sonically worse listen than the 2018 album though lmao. when you take all of this into account and how they even stooped so low as to tour with nickelback in 2020, (the tour was cancelled due to covid) it just feels fucking crazy that the band is even trying to keep going anymore. flawless discography up until scott's departure though, long live scott weiland and fuck coke.

Lol, I love Pearl Jam like any other 90's teen but Scott was so much better than Eddie in every way tbh.

as far as i know the main reason they removed him is because Scott wouldn't commit to the band as they wanted. Scott was always known for being a person very difficult to work with, hence the reason he didn't continue with velvet revolver which were a hit and stated as solo with the wildabouts... at the end he was preaching he was living the sober life, but he looked snoozed totally at the last shows he played, he fucked up his voice and brain so badly that when he played with the wildabouts he couldn't hit the tempos of the song while playing sadly... he was an addict and that's what killed him. He tried going to rehab and helped him for short periods of time, but he went back at it... and denied it, so people would leave him the fuck alone :( STP's new singer, Jeff, actually fits those shoes perfectly, their last two records are amazing! And hopefully you get to give them a chance.
