Brettlayton makes a considerable point, but Sabaton never wrote about fictional things, did they? Also, to uzi666, people did identify themselves as Swedes (and Geats), Danes and Norwegians even though they didn't exist as nations yet.

He could possibly be talking about the einherjer. The warriors who, after death, trained endlessly in Valhalla. At the end of the world the einherjer along with Oden leave to fight the last battle in which everyone living is slaughtered by the dead from Niflheim, and the gods are all killed by Surtur and his fire giants from Muspelheim. Just an idea.

Musically, he song is one of their best overall, but the lyrics make little sense to me, especially the chorus. I'm no expert in Norse mythology, but I doubt that humans can be "forged in Valhalla" and then sail "out of Asgard". Unless the titular "pagans" are not Viking warriors, but that would be even more stupid. And I doubt Vikings did identify themselves as Swedes. Could anyone elaborate on this?
