Biography
Ohmalone is a portuguese Porto based project of free improvised and experimental music. It was a very active project between 1998 and 2002, having released 2 CD-Rs (live recordings), creating 1 original soundtrack for a theatre play (Visões Úteis), and playing several concerts in several portuguese cities, mainly as a quintet, with Ana Costa (flute), João Tiago Fernandes (drums), Alexandre Gamelas (doublebass), João Martins (saxophones) and José Miguel Pinto (guitar).
Ohmalone as a project and Ohmalone players were also at the foundation of some bigger ensembles, proposed by Space Festival, such as Klank Ensemble or Space Ensemble, and smaller groups, such as Red Albinos and Lost Gorbachevs.
Today, Ohmalone exists mainly as a concept of free and game-like improvisation, but most of its members are still active in the experimental and improvised music scene.
In one of its many forms it is still likely to resurface.
