Do people like this band for real or do they just like the personality and attitude of their vocalist? I don't mean this as a diss or insult but everyone only seems to talk about him and I've literally never seen a single person post about their music or anything besides Ace of Spades. I guess that's a skill issue or whatever. If I wanted to get into them what album should I start with? If you look at their overall listens on various platforms they seem like a borderline one hit wonder which i know isn't true since I'm sure they have a ton of good tracks.

Yes, they're a tremendous band. Where you start depends on what era of the band might resonate with you better; a lot of people like the classic era, but I like the post-2000s stuff more, because that's the lineup of the band that I saw live. For a broad spectrum, I'd recommend Overkill, Bomber, Rock 'n' Roll, 1916, Inferno and Motorizer. For something slightly different, give Overnight Sensation a try.

If you like heavy music I’d prefer you tune in to Bastards. It’s most ‘metal’ album of Motörhead, in my humble opinion

I would say both, the answer to that question realistically would be both. There are two individual categories of people where one genuinely enjoys the music and lore of the band inclusively and the other are just baseless shallow posers looking to catch a thrill

I think sometimes the attitude of the band members, in this case Lemmy, can give a new meaning for the music as well, another grip

I've been loving Motörhead since I was a kid (I'm 24 now) and there are many many banger tracks. I think Ace of Spades is righteously their best hit since it's really really catchy and many people don't often dive deeper (not that Motörhead is an underground band but ykwim). Lemmy's personality was great too, they're not mutually exclusive!

Who is looking forward to the lost 1976 album (The Manticore Tapes)? It should be quite a treat!

Perfect! I like soccer (don't really like watching it, but I like playing it and I remember playing it in gym class in high school), trucks and Motörhead.

Times are challenging, but remember what Lemmy said: (Don't Let 'Em) Grind Ya Down

The MTV- friendly March ör Die was a bad move, other than that absolute god-tier band. Doesn't get any better than them!

Anyone know why they decided to have an umlaut (it's the ö, in case you're wondering) in the band name? I do know the band's name comes from the song Motorhead (not spelled with an umlaut), a Hawkwind song. The song title is usually always spelled without the umlaut. However, I have noticed it has been scrobbled the song with the umlaut.

I agree. Ace of Spades is actually a comparatively weak album in their discography. I mean, it's good, but they have plenty of better albums. Overkill is everything AoS is, but better. Iron Fist gets a lot of totally undeserved hate, it's a solid album and I hear nothing wrong with the production.

similar in terms of the songs quality, inferior in terms of the production quality. But songs like Loser, America, Heart of Stone are amazing and underrated

I think that Philip Campbell might be my favourite guitar player from Motorhead

Würzel gets overlooked way too often. Him and Phil together worked on some of the best albums Motörhead ever put out. Lemmy picked his band members well.

I'll never forget the comment where someone stated Lemmy's voice sounded like a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of Jack Daniels suddenly started talking.

Dave Mustaine played Ace of spades for us on pandora. It wasn't a cover it was a take over. Dave Mustaine likes Orgasmatron the song and album the best of Motorhead. Dave Mustaine can't read music so he plays his riffs and makes solos, drum parts and bass lines by ear. Dave Mustaine sounds like an evil Geddy Lee.

Dave played the song on a Motorhead Cd. Dave didn't play Ace of spades as a cover. Also Dave Mustaine sounds like Starscream and Cobra Commander with some Jeff Walker from Carcass.

It's because Dave Mustaine is one of my favorite musicians. Now Dave Mustaine is old.
