I do miss the more darker and occult music/themes but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the new album! Its still filled with great easy listening 80's songs.

I knew I was going to like the new Papa and single, but I seriously did NOT expect for them both to be so damn amazing. They really went above and beyond with this.

The Papa changes are more about the lore/on-stage character he plays than the actual music genre or his singing style. It has no impact at all for people into Ghost just for the music, but for people that also follow the lore the band plays into (like me), a new Papa is exciting because it progresses that story.

Oh yeah, completely missed explaining that very big implication lol. He will definitely usee a wider range of vocals now that he doesn't have to think about how the mask will impact them, and you can already see some of that with these new singles. I'm loving it. So stoked for the tour too! I have tickets for the last two dates so I'll have to wait for quite a while to see them, but I'm super excited

It feels to me like Tobias took all the most unpromising elements of Ghost's last two albums (sugary pop hooks, 70s/80s overproduction, watered-down lyrics) and distilled them into an album that brought out his worst as a songwriter. There are 2 or 3 good songs, but mostly the album is monotonous and tries too hard to sound catchy. I don't think there was a single song after "Guiding Lights" that didn't make me hit skip halfway through.

I was trying to grasp what my issue is with Skeletá, and you got it, as it tries a little too hard to be catchy. Although I do not think that the second half of the album is that bad, Missila Amori and Marks Of The Evil One are peak Ghost for me, both the riffs and the melodies are on point. In this moment I think most of the album is all right, with Lachryma being the obvious hit - perfect mix of the cheeky pop allures of their music with a little comeback of the Meliora-era Mercyful Fate riffs. I can easily cut some slack for Tobias as both Prequelle and Impera were 10/10s.

Well, you obviously like it a little more than I do. Nothing wrong with that (and "Lachryma" is a solid Ghost number). I just wish some of the the other songs did something to justify their length. Like, most of the songs don't have any surprises. You've heard everything you're going to hear in the first two minutes, and then they just go on, and on, and on... "Excelsis" is the worst offender. It's like he took "Life Eternal" and made it twice as long and half as good.

The fact that they have covered artists such as Television, Echo and the Bunnymen, and The Stranglers just increases my love for them

(i enjoyed it but it's not a song that i had on repeat like the rest of the band discography. satanized is blasting on my headphones every moment and it's been out not even for a day yet)

I've understood that 'The Future Is a Foreign Land', although being the most recently released song of theirs before 'Satanized', was actually recorded around 2019 in the same sessions as 'Kiss the Go-Goat' and 'Mary on a Cross'. All being their kind of 60s psychedelic rock throwback theme

Damn I cant believe how big they got... I remember seeing them opening for metallica in 2012 in helsinki, when I founded them, followed them to meliora, and now came back for skeleta and damn its all different... Also saw them quickly in tuska 2011 when they played on a small stage in the middle of the day

Well, even Iron Maiden now recognise that mobile phones at concerts have become a serious problem — and rightly so. https://x.com/IronMaiden/status/1924752634277183873
