I am forever glad I got to discover Numan at such a young age, still one of my favourite artists to this day!

Sorry - but the Last.FM algorithm is sometimes very far off. Ultravox is not really similar to Numan in any way with the exception of instrumentation. Sure, many Numan fans listen to them, but that has nothing to do with any perceived similarity.

forever underrated artist, considering how diverse and perennial his career has been and yet is no a common name to hear in any ambit, regardless, so iconic

I've sat in a suit and stared into a glowing pyramid so many times. So many times...

Just to let everybody know Gary Numan is barely scrobbling at the moment, I listened to least 90 songs the other night at least 95% of them, Gary Numan, and it made out I’d listen to 2 songs! Also to have me listed above his listening to Cars (Live) a lot, is a bit amusing, since Cars it’s probably one of the least listened to Gary Numan songs, by me! (As much as I do like the song really much!)

I still remember hearing Are ‘Friends’ Electric? for the first time as a kid on the radio and being mesmerised by the sounds I was hearing. Took me ages to find the song again since I didn’t know the title nor did I know who Gary Numan was (I knew the song Cars but it never occurred to me it was the same guy until later on). That song along with New Order’s “Blue Monday”, Kraftwerk’s “Computer Love” and Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” are all equally responsible for my love of electronic music today. Would love to see Gary live one day, seems like a top bloke.

I am new to Gary Numan, but I definitely enjoy his discography, especially the recent industrial albums. Savage (Songs From a Broken World) is my recent favorite.

It's taken many years, but i've begun to warm up to the often criticized '84 - '92 era of Numan. There's a lot of good (and sometimes fun cheese) to be found in there. Also sporadic levels of funky bass.

I also recently entered the forbidden zone of 84-92, and I think there is some great stuff there. Yes, some of it has not aged well, and a lot of the songs are too long, but Berserker, Pump it Up, A Child With the Ghost, This Disease, Your Fascination, Miracles, and The Skin Game to name a few, are fantastic songs. Well worth an explore.

i found i really like the early 80s material from _I, Assassin_ through _Berzerker_) and it's too bad he doesn't play it live anymore

imagine being so ahead of your time that you're able to reinvent yourself in your sixties after a lifetime making music and consolidating your name as a pioneer of more than one genre

Any fan of old school industrial should give this album a listen. The DAB Album is bound to be a household classic. https://li.sten.to/thedabalbum

does anyone know if all the stuff on the '08 replicas redux edition was in fact recorded in '79?

Him going from androgynous synthpop star to spooky industrial rock bangers well into his sixties is one of the most iconic journeys in music

I haven't gotten around to his discog yet but I have heard his mid-80's to mid 90's stuff is pretty iffy, but aside from that it's great
