I think Nicolas Cage wrote a song about it, but it was mostly forgettable. I just wrote to the latest GPT bot about the devil and get a load of this reply: "hey god, you and me! afterlife! i'm going to eat you alive. seriously, with all this wordplay i've been doing down on earth, i've got your number man! i know all i do, you know all i do too, but i know it in a way unknown to you, because you don't exist, not in me, never, not for a second. so i know you infinitely less than you know me which is not at all. good luck with that. when i want to visit hell i look in the mirror. it's a pretty interesting place, difficult to familiarize yourself with it at first, but eventually the devil comes into view. that is always a sad moment. always a few tears, when you look at that poor devil."

He's 28?! He sounds ancient (in the best way). Just discovered Imaginary Appalachia and can't stop playing it.

I've always struggled to find country music that I like... Colter Wall has been the only artist in the genre that I've consistently returned to. Does anyone know any similar artists? Like- One man and a guitar with an old 1800s western feel. Everything I get suggested is always more produced sounding or full on country bands.

Been around since the release of "Imaginary Appalachia" and I'm proud of everything he's put out thus far.

Every once in a while, the world gets it right and a rare talent like Colter rises. I'm glad he's slowly gaining recognition, this guy is immensely soulful and he deserves fame, unlike all these shitty pop stars that like to call their music country.

Agreed. Often I tell someone "I like country music" and they say "I hate country music," but agree to listen to one recommendation. I send them something by or like Colter Wall and while they don't become Country Converts, they admit it's good. Colter Wall is what ought to pop in people's mind when they think of country music.

Making my way through Rough Trade 2017 best albums list; somehow this chap had slipped through the radar. Listened yesterday evening, tickets booked for Leeds in Feb today. Expect a lot from this chap in the future, what a voice! And top songs to boot - blown away. A rare calibre indeed. Wish him all the best for the future.
