Biography
Charlie Hughes is an unsigned songwriter/artist. Born January 13th, 1992, he has lived near Philadelphia, PA for most of his life and now attends Sewanee: The University of the South, in Sewanee, TN. During high school, he became more influenced by a stronger variety of music and decided to collaborate with several friends in hopes of making "an album that could be heard on the radio." All of this was brought about while taking a music composition course which gave him the liberty to use Logic Pro 8 more technically.
Charlie Hughes is a songwriter who started to focus on writing in 2009 with a focus on pop/rock/acoustic/hip-hop. Life in Make Believe is Charlie Hughes's first album, recorded at St. Andrew's School, DE. The album hits several different genres, telling the story of many different teenagers through different vocals.
The band's greatest influences are John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Wilco, Maroon 5 and The Hold Steady, but many critics say that Charlie Hughes's first album sounds most like John Mayer, Eric Hutchinson and Jack Johnson.
His next album (title unknown) will be slightly different. While maintaining the same roots, it promises to "rock a little harder with more electricity and darker lyrics." The band hopes to release it in the next year.
