After garnering acclaim for their 2019 EP, the group issued their debut album, The True Story of Bananagun in 2020. Naming the Monks and Os Mutantes among their most direct inspirations, Bananagun grew out of the demos of singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Nicholas Van Bakel and later included members of Parsnip and Frowning Clouds.
