Description

Arvo Pärt: Fratres
Joanna MacGregor: Deep River
Interval
Arve Henriksen: Pieces from Cartography
James MacMillan: Piano Concerto No.2

Joanna MacGregor piano, director
Arve Henriksen trumpet

A spell-binding concert, featuring the unique artistry of two musicians - Norwegian jazz trumpeter Arve Henriksen, whose soulful music reflects the landscapes of the North, merging collages and delicate sound-palettes, and Joanna MacGregor, whose virtuosity is showcased in James MacMillan's sensationally wild, Celtic-inspired Piano Concerto No.2. The programme also includes new arrangements from Arve's acclaimed ECM album Cartography, as well as Joanna's orchestral work inspired by the poetic blues of the Deep South, Deep River.

Queen Elizabeth Hall at 6.15pm - Pre-concert talk on tonight's programme. Admission free.
