Description
Prepare for an overwhelming, stimulating experience, providing the soundtrack to the vibrant world around us! Blurring the boundaries between contemporary music and interactive technology, Peter Gregson presents an evening of live music from around the world. Includes music by Kings Place regulars Max Richter and John Metcalfe, Cello Counterpoint by Steve Reich, Sun Will Set by Zoe Keating, and Flight Path by Gregson from his Terminal album. The second half features a new work by Milton Mermikides and Peter Gregson, and includes sounds sampled from around the world.
Does an experience of New York change the appreciation of Steve Reich's music, or an impression of Berlin the perception of Max Richter's? In today's increasingly connected world, people are exposed to a blurring flow of information; visual, auditory and factual. This unique project explores whether our perception of a city influences our appreciation of the music that inspired it.
Featuring music from New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Berlin and London, the relevant city will be brought into the concert hall for the duration of each piece, using location-aware, real-time internet: live video, geotagged photos, Twitter visualizers, trending locations...
