張耀，以旅行為生活基調，不斷挑戰創意的攝影作家。視覺圖書的始作俑者。其生活及創作方式，有人稱他是「行走貴族」、「不在地的人」、「文學界的王家衛」，有人說他的書是「雅痞聖經」……。在海外，張耀已擁有一大批「咖啡迷」，他們收藏張耀每一時期的每一部作品。他說自己是拿照相機的作家。迄今已在海內外出版數十種圖文著作。一句「我不在家就在咖啡館，或在去咖啡館的路上」成為許多人的生活信仰。
八○年代在維也納生活，歐洲多家著名報紙和雜誌撰寫、拍攝專輯作品。經年旅行世界各著名城市，撰寫一系列歐洲咖啡館文化的作品，並於維也納、格拉茲、薩爾斯堡及荷蘭阿姆斯特丹、香港、台北舉辦了數十次個人作品展。一九九七年起定居巴黎。
