Well, KyoAni is pure win, they have produced Haruhi and Nichijou (which I cannot recommend highly enough). Last decent anime I watched was Mawaru Penguindrum, started as a siscon harem anime but it gets WTFish. Also also your package was shipped today, didn't know it was you hahah. Enjoy them tapes.
K-On! is a special series. While I know it's pretty dumb, it's addictive as fuck too. Gotta re-watch season 1 this weekend, maybe. Haven't read the manga tho, I've been more into Visual Novels lately. Lately = the last 5 or 6 years LOL
Hey, man, I've got a couple days off from work if you want to get together sometime this week. I get back from my vacation wednesday night, thursday my other band is auditioning a drummer, and friday I'm getting my sleeve finished, but the weekend is pretty much open if you're interested.
Will do. I've always been wanting to make blackened death in the vein of Ulcerate, early Incantation, Mitochondrion, Antediluvian, Portal, etc. Really atmospheric, almost primitive death metal with a sharp blackened edge. Or, black/death more like Behemoth, Akercocke, etc. Sophisticated with proggy influences.
Alright, cool. My schedule is a little screwy for the next month or so, what with graduation coming and work, but we can probably schedule a jam session one of these days. Black metal isn't a problem, but I've been in a death metal mood as of late.
Hey, man, I'm so sorry for the late reply, I don't get on here as much as I used to. But if the opportunity is still open, I'm down for pretty much anything. I'm looking to upgrade from my amp soon, as well, as soon as I can stop spending money on my tattoos and other random shit. But yeah, I'm definitely down if you want to work something out again.
Heh yeah. I just wish I'd started a bit earlier. I'll listen to even incoherent walls of sound if I'm in the mood for it but one of the main things I look for most of the time is the atmospheric quality of the music, which can of course be very prominent in this genre; the recording quality or lack thereof only enhances its cold, dark feel, which is quite important in a lot of BM. Thank you so much! I will certainly give a listen to the artists you recommended. :]
Well Darkthrone in particular is becoming one of my favorite bands of any genre, and I'm somewhat yet increasingly familiar with Beherit, Peste Noire, Behexen, Idjarn, Satanic Warmaster, and Horna, but I have so far to go in really delving deeply into the genre. I got into black metal, and metal in general really, on the melodic side (Emperor, Limbonic Art, etc) so I'm a bit late in branching out into raw BM. I was reminded of the genre by the band logos in your sidebar. Aaaaaand I think I'm going to give a listen to a lot of the artists in your top charts, since I'm always eager to hear something new.
Production is real mean on that olden-day Immortal. They've been high-calibre extreme metal musicians for their whole career. I'll give that Demonaz album a spin later tonight. But having just flicked through I must remark that it sounds a LOT like All Shall Fall with less thrash and fast shit.
Fucced my mind up when I heard Unholy Forces of Evil and shit on that first Immortal record, having heard them many times on Battles. Always thought there was a few tracks that stood out towards the end...
Yeah, I'm really nit-picky about stuff like that. Who does the production for the songs? But I totally understand why Raw Black Metal is so raw. Its meant to have some sort of cold, primitive vibe to it, right?Atleast, that's what I've always thought Raw Black Metal was all about >_>. And thanks for listening. I liked the result I've gotten, kinda sounded like a early Nadja B-side haha. I'm probably gonna experiment some more with stuff like that and start adding other stuff to it, atleast until my hands recover.
I've started to write a couple of songs that will hopefully become my first full-length album, but since I can't do much right now, I started experimenting with creating textures and atmospheres with effect pedals. Thanks to that, I have one song down so far. Tell me what you think: http://deathsmokesdope.bandcamp.com/
Listened to some of the songs off Lys' myspace. Raw Black Metal is a nit-picky thing for me. I can't get into the super-raw stuff, most likely because the wannabe-recording engineer in me cringes. But what you guys got going is pretty good. I feel the vocals are a bit too high up in the mix, and they overpower everything else. That kinda kills it for me, atleast. Its good that you guys are getting a couple of splits out there, too.
Ah, I see. Its been a little rough for me, I've been battling a case of tendinitis in both of my hands for a couple weeks now, so I haven't been able to really do much for a while. How's the music doing?
It'd be nice if you could have your car on campus next semester. We probably wouldn't be recording for a while, anyways. We've still yet to actually finish a song, haha >_>. But I can't jam tomorrow, apparently my plans conflicted with my parents plans, and therefore, their plans automatically win. I don't know when the next time I'll be free will be =/.
Ha, we still have the same problems we did back in the summer. Since you're gonna be away at college. you wanna form, like, an "online" band or something? That way, we won't even really need other members, since the probability of finding anybody is still very slim, and we don't have to wait until the summer or something to jam and/or record stuff, ya know?
Btw, the jam will most likely be on Sunday, and no drummer this time around.
