A cast on her leg and we still had to potty train her

A couple of stints, a lot of Gabapentin
Now she's hunting for her chicken jerky
Around the room in such a flurry
Sniffing our clothes and under the pillows
Hartsel Nights now over and over
She's humping Snug while we're doing a crossword
Looking real glad laying down on the heating pad
She gets a sip when we turn out the lights
Has her barking fits on the quietest nights
But her feelings are valid, her fears are important
We give her kibble right out of our hands
And we give her scrambled eggs out of the pan
Because it makes us happy whenever she's wagging
And in return she always has our back and when we're sad
She can tell and she sits in our lap
And no matter what's wrong she can still make me laugh
When I'm trying to sleep and she's nibbling my eye mask
