Ramona Jones learned to play the fiddle as a child in Prairie Creek, Indiana, from her father, Homer Riggins. From the time she picked up the fiddle, it was her ambition to become a professional musician. She got her first break at age 17 when she won a fiddle contest at a local radio station, landing a job with radio star, Sunshine Sue Workman. Ramona has performed around the world, spreading her love of old time music to audiences from England to Canada. She was one of the first women to play lead fiddle on the Grand Ole Opry, joining the show with her husband, Grandpa Jones, in 1941. She still performs on the Opry to this day.
