Given what a lot of the music I've heard from the past year, I would have to say this prediction is probably at least somewhat accurate. You could say that there was already a lot of 80s influence in 2000s and 2010s music, and you would be right, but 2020 took it to another level. I actually would say this has generally been true of every year since 2001; each year has sounded successively more 80s than the last one.

There are a number of radio stations where I live which play both current songs and oldies, and honestly I am having trouble distinguishing between 1980s recordings and some 2020s recordings (for example the 2020 hit "Let's Love" by Sia).

I wonder which 1980s songs will still be popular in the 2080s. Some songs from the 1910s are still well-known in the 2010s (such as "Over There", "Alexander's Ragtime Band", etc.) so it's not impossible some 1980s songs might still be popular in the 2080s.
