Ralph Koper is a field recording artist from the Netherlands. His main interest is to capture ambiances of extacy, as well in culture as in nature.

In 2013, Koper released Ancient Pulsations, an album with recordings from old rituals in Varanasi, India.

Ujung Kulon Soundclash (2016) is Koper's first album on The Sublunar Society. It is recorded in Java, Indonesia, capturing the interactions between jungle, ocean and people. In the piece Where the Jungle Meets the Sea, for example, there are relaxing sounds of gentle waves lapping the shore, coincide with the sounds of birds and the singing of rare Silvery Gibbons in the coastal rainforest of Ujung Kulon National Park. Amongst other contrasts, interactions / conflicts in the album are culture and nature, liquid and solid, chaos and order…

"I love it when elements, animals and sometimes people come together and celebrate. The interactions in sound are magical music."

"The quest is to capture synchronicity in sound, it happens when everything falls together in the moment."

In 2017, Atlas Ambiance, Koper's second album was released. These 34 field recordings were captured in Marrakech, Morocco – and half a day travelling from there (in the Atlas mountains), in the little town of Ijoukak.
