Usually I don't like remixes, but this one is great: https://www.last.fm/music/Chic/_/Le+Freak+-+Dimitri+From+Paris+Instrumental Found it on my Release Radar playlist on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/7qwo3xfKiBdpP42i37LTKX, and it is also available as an embeddable video on YouTube.
Dimitri From Paris is v respectful to the source material. Nile even selected some of his remixes to be included on this Chic Org. retrospective compilation: https://www.discogs.com/Nile-Rodgers-Presents-The-Chic-Organization-Box-Set-Vol-1-Savoir-Faire/master/1410945
My top 5 fav Chic-produced tracks by other artists: #1) "Sorcerer" by Norma Jean Wright #2) "Why" by Carly Simon #3) "You Fooled Around" by Sister Sledge #4) "Upside Down" by Diana Ross #5) "Spacer" by Sheila & B. Devotion
Word, Chic's influence goes way beyond their own genre. '77 must've been an incredible year to be alive as a music lover. What with punk and disco both hitting mainstream, and leaving a huge imprint on all pop music that came after it.
It makes me sad to see people like Nile and Giorgio Moroder working with Avicii recently. Plus Girgio called Skrillex a genius. Anyone else unable to comprehend how they are working with such soulless artists and make such odd comments about Skrillex. There is just so much good electronic music out there i can't understand anyway how such legends are working with some of the most average people in the music industry.
