Generic arrangements, sure, but terrific singing and vocal melodies still. Lyrics suck as they always have... but Marcus Mumford is one of the most soulful musicians around and a whole lot can be forgiven because of it.

Great music, a bit more serious and grown up than the previous albums. And come on, I was afraid this would be 'Stadium rock shit' but it totally isn't. It's actually a pretty calm, atmospheric record.

I know bands can't go on with the same kind of tune forever, but this album is so generic. I'm disappointed. :l

Do I miss the banjo? Yes. Is it a great album regardless? Yes. Fantastic music, just because it's not what you'd expect from Mumford & Son's doesn't mean it's no good, separate the album from the artist, they can have more than one sound, no need to put them into a box. They're musicians, they've got to enjoy what they do, I'd rather they do what they want to do because it'll be so much better than specifically making music for an audience. Besides, maybe next time they'll bring back acoustic instruments. ;)

With this record, I love that they have done something different for them and it makes it feel fresh and the funny thing is (much to EVERYONE'S apparent amazement) it still sounds like Mumford and Sons. Plenty of the songs here still retain that M&S feel and I think this is a great record and a great progression from a genuinely exciting band. The album has heart and it's different and it's pensive and relaxing and bouncy all at the same time - That is exactly where this band need to be right now and everything I'd expect from this album. Great work!

In my opinion, Mumford and Sons peaked their folk sound with "Babel", but you add "Sigh No More" into the addition there and you have two good albums worth of M&S goodness. I don't they would be able to make anything better with their folk sound than they did with "Babel" and if they did keep going with that sound it would be met with disappointment at either it being the same as previous albums or just not being as good as previous efforts.

I love how Mumford and Sons were pretty much walking into a trap with whatever road they decided to take with this album. On one hand, they could have kept their folk sound and be criticised for lacking ambition and variation and on the other hand, they could try something different (like they have done) which will also gain them criticism by those who just want the band to keep making the same music as they have for two albums now. It's pretty ludicrous if you ask me.

''Don't tell me that I've changed, because that's not the truth''. Ha! How ironic to sing that, when in reality it's exactly what has happened...Now it basically doesn't matter if I listen to M&S, Coldplay or Death Cab for Cutie, because there's no difference really.

I wasn't expecting this album to be as good as their previous albums. They've improved on their sound, ditched the banjos and focused on more electronic and synth sounds. A lot of good tunes in here and I must say this was just epic.

Ok, what do you say now? This really looks like pre-Mylo Xyloto Coldplay. They took away everything that made M&S different.

This album sounds like Coldplay 2.0. Sigh No More is what got me into M&S, Babel kept me but this album i will not buy.
