Jaron Lamar Davis moves to the forefront as a bandleader with his chilling, ambient jazz-funk debut "My View Through the Lens of Music". Davis - a well-rounded, musical drummer is never over-bearing from behind the drums on this date. Instead he focuses on moving the listener by the usage of sound. For lack of a better term, "My View Through the Lens of Music" may be considered a "jazz" album. However, cliche licks and phrases are rarely used in this idiom.

"My View Through the Lens of Music" has an eerily vintage 70s' feel to it. The heavy use of the rhodes, thick bass lines laid down primarily by prodigy bassist Dominique Sanders, allow those of age to reminisce on their younger years and a true golden era of music. Davis also displays masterful arrangements of Antonio Carlos Jobim's "How Insensitive" and Miles Davis' "Four", with vocals by the angelic voices of Tatiana Mayfield and Rochelle Rice respectively.
