Биография
Born and raised in Rochester, NY, Colin was originally self taught from an early age. Colin's formal training began in his early teens when he started studying privately with the notable instructor, Steve Green, before going on to conservatory training at the world-renowened Eastman School of Music. There he studied under Bob Sneider and was named the "Fred V. Alati Jazz Scholar."
At the age of 18, Cannon left Rochester for Boson, MA after being selected by the Berklee College of Music's "World Scholarship Tour." While at Berklee, he studied guitar and composition with instructors such as Tim Miller and the legendary Mick Goodrick, (teacher of Pat Methany, John Scofield, Bill Frisell and more). After graduating from Berklee, Colin relocated to New York City where he began performing in some of the city's most famous venues such as The Blue Note Jazz Club, The 55 Bar, and Rockwood Music Hall. Beyond NYC, Colin's touring has included playing to sold out crowds at the Rochester International Jazz Festival. Throughout his time in Boston and NYC Colin has collaborated extensively with Manami Morita (piano), Zak Croxall (bass), Thomas Hartman (drums) and Devin Collins (drums) with whom he recorded and released his critically aclaimed albums: In Summary in 2009, Glenville in 2012, and his most ambitious work yet, Intermission (Farewell) in 2016.
In addition to making his own music, Cannon is a highly sought after private guitar, theory and composition instructor in the New York City area. Based on the east coast, he continues to peform, record and compose regulalry.
