Walk off the Earth is a Canadian indie band formed in Burlington, Ontario. Founded in 2006, the band's first success came from covering the songs of The Gregory Brothers. The video of their cover of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" featuring The Creepshow's Sarah Blackwood became rapidly popular on YouTube in early 2012, gathering over 33 million views in 2 and a half weeks and received positive responses from both Gotye and his co-singer on the song Kimbra. In the video, the five musicians appear to play on a single guitar but one of the band members acknowledged that the audio parts have been overdubbed. They claimed they all used the same guitar because they only had one guitar at the time.On Saturday 7 January 2012 actor Russell Crowe tweeted the band after seeing the video and pitched his catalogue to them.Alyssa Milano and Troian Bellisario are both other fans, Troian sharing the video on her Tumblr page on 20 January 2012.The band have also covered "Someone Like You" by Adele, "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO, and dozens of other tracks.
