Hiejima Toshitaro (稗島寿太郎, known simply as Toshitaro) was born on January 18, 1957, in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture. He started as a singer and bassplayer in a band called Toshitaro & Riverside. After releasing two albums and five singles, they disbanded and he released his solo debut album Inside Story on July 21, 1984. His music can be classified as a boogie city pop, with a very lively and catchy sound, not to mention his energetic, unique voice. Toshitaro has released 10 albums throughout his solo career.
