i'm not a native english speaker but currently studying ELT and i'm on 4th year, i still dont get it if their lyrics are just random words put together or just pretty symbolism and shit. i dont understand A SENTENCE. fucking love them tho.

any news on future projects? their last _full_ album was over 4 years ago (graves feels more like an ep at 19mins)... starving for them honestly

started getting into purity ring recently, and my god they are amazing

Started with Womb, and now with Graves their approach is getting more and more linear. The element of surprise is greatly reduced, and the sound doesn't spread much, like it used to into multiple pathways in the first 2 albums perhaps. The music's still dreamy and that is all that is remaining from the originality they showed when they burst onto the scene. I guess they're mainstreaming themselves, but it isn't as thrilling to me as it was in the beginning.

Basically invented a new electronic genre.

sorry but womb is my favourite purity ring album

Purity Ring are a lot like Sleigh Bells in that they were fresh and hugely influential when they first came out but were immediately surpassed by the artists they inspired, and have spent the rest of their careers struggling to keep up. Nothing Purity Ring have released has ever been “bad”, it just sounds dated, especially since we’ve been in a golden age of pop music recently. Graves is thankfully better than Womb though.

10 years of Shrines - there's a great anniversary article on Stereogum about it today. I'm re-listening since Purity Ring never really clicked with me back then.

everything they've released since Shrines feels like the same ideas rehashed in a less interesting, less inspired and less catchy way to me. had high hopes for the new EP but it's still just the same thing yet again. hoping they can find a way to progress soon.

I only heard their name for the first time last october and now they’re one of my favourites ever. i genuinely feel captivated by their music, the sounds corin creates, megan’s elegance when she sings, the imagery from the lyrics and of their artwork/videos, it’s so different to anything i’ve seen before and i’m obsessed. so hauntingly dark and beautiful at the same time. love u purity ring
