HEAVEN: Choir Metal is a Brazilian choir metal band founded by conductor and singer Rafael Leoni and drummer Rômulo Zanco. After a nationwide recruitment, which was attended by extremely qualified musicians and interested in a project with unprecedented purpose, the band settled with five instrumentalists and a choir of seven vocalists.
The style of the band mixes heavy metal with chorus of voices and orchestra elements. In the repertoire are presented compositions that permeate the innumerable variations of the style. The main references for HEAVEN are: Angra, Avantasia, Epica, Kamelot, Nightwish, Stratovarius and Therion.
HEAVEN debuted with the release of the song Sensorium, cover of the band Epica, in March 2018. The recording took place during the months of February and March at the Whatafolk-Studio in Campinas (São Paulo, Brazil).
In April 2018, HEAVEN began recording their first self-titled work entitled Sacred Blood. The song was released in early May 2018 and features influences of power metal and classical music, including a reference to the Invention of Two Voices in Bb Major (BWV 785), composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. The lyrics are based on the Baroque theme and describe a ritual of fertility and prosperity carried out in different cultures, referring to the blood and sacrifice from the continuity of life to the new generations.
