They went under both names. They shortened their name in 1975 when they signed on with Capital Records. Today, Locorriere retains ownership of the Dr. Hook name, using it for his current solo band as "Dr Hook Starring Dennis Locorriere" while Sawyer was granted a license to tour separately as "Ray Sawyer of Dr. Hook" or "Dr. Hook featuring Ray Sawyer".

Can't recall the date & year, I'd say mid 70s. But as it turned out, they were only drawn cartoonish caricatures put on the front cover. Ray Sawyer ---> ( # __ * )
Oh well...... they made mucho $$$ on the record.
CDPETE01 The reason they disappered was due to the loss of Shel Silverstein, the brains and writer of the majority of their music. Shel was a fantastic man who wrote great books for kids that are worth reading. They were different from any other 70's band, great stuff in my mind
