The Light Bar Shoreditch
233 Shoreditch High St, London, E1 6PJ, United Kingdom
Here comes the summer; and here comes another season of Ketoloco parties at the Light Bar. The first, on Sunday May 6th, is to be headlined by Vincenzo, Rodriguez Jr (live) and Kornél Kovács.
As always The Light Bar will be decked out with full Funktion One sound, both indoors an out on the sun drenched (hopefully!) terrace, whilst there is also a new VIP balcony upstairs and there will be food available on the BBQ throughout the 11 hour session. Although this is now Ketoloco’s spiritual London home of four years, there will be one other change: the addition of a raised stage in the main room to keep things fresh.
And so to the sounds... First up is German deep houser and close Dessous/Moon Harbour associate Vincenzo. His recent Wherever I Lay My Hat LP painted a great picture of modern 4/4 with plenty of soul and emotion littered throughout. The man’s sets are similar, and take him everywhere from America to Australia.
And then there’s a live show from Rodriguez Jr, the Frenchman who has a diverse array of influences and who has released on Laurent Garnier’s F-Communications as well as Mobilee and Mothership. His live sets are expressive and expansive things that aim to make you dance as much as think, frankly.
Finally we have the chief of the most impish current crew in electronic music – namely Kornél Kovács of Swedish label Studio Barnhus. The label (which he runs with Axel Bowman and Petter Nordkvist) releases a rare mixture of fun sounds, bass, non linear techno and plenty of charming electro, psyco trancehall and just about anything else. His own sets knot together all these influences with Ableton trickery and plenty of focus on the party… he’s set to be one of 2012’s sensations so don’t miss out.
