it's been a while since i listened to the let it be album...and i'm astounded this song wasn't on it. wasn't on abbey road, either. i know that the beatles largely kept singles and albums separate, but this is one of john's last truly great songs for the band...and it was left a b-side. single tracks "get back," "the long and winding road," and even "for you blue" were all on the album! simply crazy to have left this one off

makes me wonder if they've ever said anything that explains the omission. it seems bizarre to put two paul singles and one george single on let it be ahead of it, especially at a time when john was struggling to finish any material for the group at all

damn, sorry to spam, but i'm looking into it now and "don't let me down" was in fact on both glyn johns versions of the album that the beatles rejected...so it's not like they just weren't thinking about it. it was a conscious decision to leave it off. so strange

My second favourite Beatle tune of all time (after "A Day In the Life")... and THAT'S really saying something about the quality of this song.
