Death is not the loneliness, nor the confusion
Not the agony, or how it comes to pass
Death is the unknowing
Mind and soul extinguished from being
Once the glint of life leaves the still eyes
Is it thrown into the void
Sands of time tarnish the body, leaving you tired
Ever more certain of the moment to come
The past resurfaces, arising doubt of fulfilment and feat
But thoughts of the future ring too strong
Contemplation breaks the calm
As I stray near the brink of insanity
One last gaze to the stars
Before the release from this worldly domain
As the cold creeps over my soul
Uncertain of the road ahead
Standing blindfolded before life's last gates
A sea awaits with such dark waters
Is this the very end, the last time I'll know myself
Or will I find myself upon a distant shore on the other side
Death is the unknowing
Impending darkness
I've not seen enough
Don't let it end
