This album is my favorite Ghost album with Opus at close second. I feel like they really tied the whole medieval Black Plague theme together very well. It makes me feel the imagery. Much in the same way Iron Maiden nailed the ancient Egyptian theme/imagery on Powerslave. The only weak point is Pro Memoria which sounds kinda cheesy. Everything else, including the 2 bonus cover tracks are excellent!

Three ballads, two instrumentals, and one introduction, leaving just four consistent songs... It's not about the pop elements, or the absent creepy atmosphere of previous works and I don't want to be mean. But simply is just plain boring, bland, and a really unispiring record, the band sounds tired and out of interesting ideas, hardly memorable. All of the other four albums are much much better and refreshing efforts for me. This is a snooze fest.

1000% agree. I feel insane when I see people worshiping this album - I know everyone has different tastes but there are only 4 songs on this album worth playing, the introduction and the instrumentals are entirely boring and the ballads are okay sometimes but meh most of the time otherwise

Definitely sounds like Ghost. This album has its ups and downs but overall I think it's solid. "Miasma" is an outstanding track and one of my favorite Ghost songs now.
