theNOLF (Greg Nolf, Rehoboth Beach, DE, Born March 7, 1982, self-proclaimed "worst thing to happen to music since the death of vinyl") grew up in the Washington DC area, one of the most diverse areas in the United States. In his early 20s, he moved to Las Vegas, NV for a few years. He now resides on the Delaware shore.
He grew up playing the saxophone and singing in chorus in elementary school, continuing the saxophone in middle school and acting & singing in the school play. Despite being a year round athlete (swimming, football, track & field) his love for music never really died, but rarely having time to dedicate to it. Once he got to college (a short stint at the University of Maryland), he began playing the guitar and bass guitar. From there, his interest in making his own music began to take form. He started learning the piano, and how to make electronic music.
The beginning of 2010 marks the time where he began actually letting other people hear his music. A long time last.fm user, he began publishing his work on the site in January 2010.
His musical tastes and influences heavily reflect the diversity of the area he spent his formative years. He loves jazz, soul, funk, rock, gypsy/balkan music, blues, hip-hop, metal. He believes that it doesn't matter what genre it is, if it moves him or sounds good, he likes it. His favorite artists include Dr. John, Tom Waits, Gogol Bordello, Devotchka, Amy Winehouse, The Black Keys, see more at theNOLF
