Rattihalli Nagendra Sudarshan (2 May 1939 – 8 September 2017) was an Indian film actor and producer who had mainly worked in Kannada language (aka Sandalwood) cinema. He was also a singer. He has sung very few songs. His most famous hits are Hoovondhu, Balibandhu, Thakithu Ennedheya from the film Shubhamangala (1975) and Irabeku Irabeku Ariyada from Naguva Hoovu (1971). He had also acted in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam films. During a career spanning more than three decades, he had acted in more than 250 films.
He was the son of veteran director R. Nagendra Rao. His brothers R. N. Jayagopal (died 2005) was a famous lyricist and R. N. Krishna Prasad (died 2008) was a famous cinematographer. He was married to actress Shylashri.
In 1961, Sudarshan was launched as lead actor in the Kannada film field at the age of 21 years in Vijayanagarada Veeraputra and he was the lead for over 60 films before appearing in villainous roles. He was currently acting on a daily serial of kannada (Agnisakshi) He also appeared in TV soaps.
He died on 8 September 2017.
