jhimm and dave met when jhimm's former band, Scissorkiss, hired dave as the audio engineer for their second recorded effort "Where's My Silver Love?". at the time, dave was an audio engineering student at Emerson College. by the time this recording was completed, jhimm and dave had begun to form a creative bond. by the time SK's third effort "The Ties That Bind" was complete (which dave also engineered), the members already knew that the band's days were numbered (the group's singer was moving cross-country). jhimm and dave had already begun discussing a creative endeavor of their own.
After a few fits and starts attempting to include a handful of other musicians, jhimm and dave decided to stick to the "power duo" approach, and (lisp) was born.
both dave and jhimm have extremely broad tastes in music, listening to everything from various forms of orchestral, and indigenous musics through american roots musics like blues, folk and western, the origins of rock and roll and electronic music such as glam rock, prog rock, new wave and hip hop all the way out to metal, hardcore, ska, indie, and others. these days they find themselves most focused on the emerging genres of blip pop, electroclash, post rock and a whole host of groups whose sound cannot be easily classified.
(lisp)'s unique sound has been borne of an organic process deliberately undertaken in an effort to avoid any pre-ordained agenda or desired genre result. a secret formula, patent pending, is employed to ensure each song is nothing but (lisp).
