Based in Belfast Causticgod quintet play a style incorporating genres closest to metal and doom. The members were/are in other bands. Vocals are by Tom Clarke of long established band 'Bad Boat', guitars by Ross Duffy of bands 'War Iron', 'Okus', 'Stranglewire' and formerly 'Two Tales Of Woe' who also share their current guitarist Dan Walsh. Bassist JJ Harrison is from 'Astralnaut' along with drummer Stephen Todd. As the band had already cut their teeth in these styles, songs for their debut album were wrote and arranged quickly over a few rehearsals and a couple of gigs to test them live before heading for Deaddog Studios in Drogheda to record in 2016. The vocals were recorded in Belfast Attic Studios. Meanwhile the band also recorded new song 'The Grail' as a swansong for drummer Todd who was to leave for the States. 'The Grail' is likely to mark the musical direction for future output for Causticgod who are currently working in new drummer Tony Murray who was previously in 'Howlin' Widow' with Tom. A new album is planned for early 2018.
