Another Wave was an Alt-Pop band from Weyburn, Canada. The original members were Chris Hillstead, Andy Barber, Bob Rasmussen, and Todd Milleker. Chad Charlton ( pictured ) replaced Rasmussen as the drummer after the release of the first album, "Life's A Cherry", and the video for the song "9".
Another Wave won several Grannys and toured in support of Lady Gag-A, an incredible feat considering she was only in the second grade at the time.
For a brief while, the band was five times the band that Nickleback was, so they changed the name (albeit briefly) to "Quarterback".
Johnny Cash, when told of Another Wave's success said: "who?"
Rolling S'toon conducted an interview with AW but declined to run it during the legendary uproar and pubic outcry over the scandal involving Todd Milleker and the Vatican sheep. (charges were later dropped)
Hillstead was the creative force for the group, writing and arranging the material as well as playing guitars.
The music has traces of Hillstead's early influences, such as Elvis Costello and Michael Stipe of REM. The band toured mainly in their home province of Saskatchewan and garnered a hefty fan base. ( Weyburn girls being the heftiest… )
Following the local success of Life's A Cherry they went on to record an EP titled "The Banana Sessions". It won critical acclaim but wasn't the commercial success that the first album was, selling less than 2 million copies.
The band parted ways in 2003 and Hillstead went on to become a member of the Regina SK based cover band B!LF, and as of 2012 he fronts a 90's tribute band called "Whatever".
