There are two bands named Yoon.
1. Yoon is a Romanian duo formed by Ionut Moraru and Victor Mihailescu in 2009. Their whole philosophy is based on the pleasure of making electronic music combined with acoustic elements, and their method of work is simple: Ionut creeates, Victor produces.
When they first met, Victor was a fresh graduate of “Alchemea” college of audio engineering in London and had released techno, house and an experimental chillout album under the names Victor M and Alternati-v-. Ionut had compositions with organic elements and the diversity of styles which mark the Yoon tracks, thanks to his live experience and the studying of clarinet. Today, his musical activity includes producing the Itsy Bitsy by Night show.
They both evolved as djs in different genres: Victor mixed electro-techno and Ionut drum and bass and garage. The different styles didn’t stop them from meeting on common ground, on the contrary, it was used to tailor the Yoon style, influenced by artists like Morcheeba, Massive Attack, Bonobo, Royksopp, Erykah Badu and Portishead.
The composer-producer collaboration works very well for the two, and their three year of work paid off with some encouraging results: they have an album ready, a collaboration with Yanka, whose lyrics and vocal covers in refinement some of the songs from this material; they remixed the song “Fairy” from the recent Jazzadezz album, which can pe listened and downloaded from their soundcloud page; also, their video for the song “The Mirror Can’t Hear You” was released on the Internet and the full live band includes, alongside Victor Mihailescu (midi controller) and Ionut Moraru (clarinet, keyboards, vocals)
2. Yoon is a rock band including Derek Pardoe of Watership Down and Lonely Unit Shifter
