Yay Us were formed in Edinburgh, UK in 2002 and blew people away with their ultra-cool boy-fronted otherwise all-girl band sounds. Featuring Kat Sharp on drums, Joi Heald on bass, Mererid Williams on keyboards and backing vocals, Andy Hazel on guitar and vocals and Jada Brotman on synth and vocals they quickly set about forming a name for themselves as being the only pink dot in a land of black dots on the Scottish music scene.
They recorded an 8-track EP called All The Heroes Are Dead, Here We Are...Yay Us, in a day, fueled only by Buckfast, produced by their only historical landmark on that Scottish scene, John Disco from Bis. Launching the CD by miming to it live at The Forest in Edinburgh (due to noise restrictions), Yay Us then imploded in the friendliest way possible.
All The Heroes Are Dead, Here We Are…Yay Us is now available on Bandcamp, re-released on the Australian record label Neika Records.
