Biography
Yadkin River Theory is an American rock and roll band from the state of North Carolina formed by songwriters, Tripp Edwards and Tony Greene with bassist Kenny Thomas and drummer Garrett Christy in 2009. In early 2010, Craig Hanks joined the fold to round out the lineup.
Edwards began his music career in Boone, NC while a student at Appalachian State University when he was working in bars and music halls rubbing elbows with many different artists that made up the North Carolina and great southeast music scene. Playing in acoustic duo's and trios helped him to hone his songwriting craft while getting experience playing live. At the same time, Greene was in Charlotte, NC at UNCC fronting rock bands including Black Hole Radio and the Brand-O-Doolies. Thomas relocated from Alabama to North Carolina where he met Greene and joined him in the Brand-O-Doolies. Mutual friends and musician Richard Armada brought Thomas, Christy and Greene together for the band, The Extended Pleasures. Christy was practically born with sticks in his hand, having a father, Ric Christy, who played with Jackie Wilson. Hanks has played guitar with such local Charlotte favorites as Analog Daze, Major Nelson, and World Class Fad.
Yadkin River Theory pushes the boundaries where Rock, Americana and Psychedelic music can all be fried up in the same greasy pan.
