"An EP from 2002, it was plagued with problems. Mastered out of phase, incorrect art work and released 2 months after the announced date, it was abused from the onset. Feel free to continue its flogging in any way you wish. Chapel of the Chimes is a chain of Bay Area cemeteries that framed the rough edged despondency and desperation of early Xiu Xiu. On our 3rd tour a woman gave us a test tube with a dead bird stuffed into it and she said it was for having made this record. It is in my desk. The album art, front and back, is by Mira O'Brian. When she was a teenager a former bandmate stalked her. Her brother smashed out the window of his van so he stopped. The first track is named after the title of her cover drawing."
