Whitney Vlasaty, known as Whitney Tai, is an American Dream Pop singer-songwriter and interior architect from New York City. Her 2014 breakout single, "To Be Loved" was written and produced with Billboard-charting producer, Sunfreakz aka Tim Janssens. The single received worldwide acclaim quickly making its way to retail radio and fashion television. UK Blog, Artistic Echoes and Vents Magazine describe her as, "A creature who turns notes into feelings", "Whitney Tai is a singer-songwriter daredevil who creates dream pop by balancing deftly on the cutting edge of pop and indie, floating between the two worlds with an emotional honesty and a soft gut-wrenching voice. Her voice, her arrangements, and her personal style come together in a way best described by the word “creature” – a being that has musically evolved beyond human limits."
In 2015, Tai paired up again with Tim Janssens to produce her first debut Dream Pop album, Metamorphosis. The album was described by blogs worldwide as "polished pop with luscious lyrics", "music that penetrates your soul", "epic, brilliant and transcendent." Metamorphosis was picked up by the worlds leading runway news platform, Fashion One Television.
Whitney began 2016 with her EP, Forever, produced by Billboard producer Spencer Garn & engineered by Morgan Ray Garcia of Upstairs Recordings. The track featured drums by Grammy nominated producer and drummer, Mike Phillips. Indie Band Guru quotes, “Tai is known for her alternative dream pop music, but looking at her past, is there anything this musician can’t do,” referring to Tai as a “Musical Chameleon.” Pure Volume talks about her single “Falling” saying, “The song accentuates the budding singer's promise and it is a strong sign of what should be a bright future for Tai.” In November of 2016, Whitney Tai and Sunfreakz released their collaboration, “Truth Be Told.” The release includes a remix from Swedish producer, LA Rush (Justin Timberlake, Avicii, Gareth Emery). I Am The Industry says, "Tai’s grind is unmatched and she continues to demonstrate her talent and consistency as an artist." Tai started 2017 by releasing Trip-Hop/Soul track "Good At Being Bad" and ballad "How Was I Supposed to Know."
In the summer of 2017, Tai and Sunfreakz released the melodic dance track, “Shockwave," now playing at Hard Rock Cafes across the globe. Sirius Radio XM blog, The Interro Bang, calls the track "The Most Visually Stimulating Song of the Summer."
The indie singer-songwriter, now based in Los Angeles, recently revealed on her Twitter and Facebook accounts that she is set to release her second debut album somewhere in the beginning of 2019. Tai continues to play live shows in Los Angeles and surrounding West Coast cities.
Tai states in a recent interview, "I want to inspire the inner rebel in everyone to take control of their dreams and creative pathways… 80's and 90's pop, they had every emotion and the authenticity was there. It wasn't sterile. I want to bring substance and human connection back, even in a digital world."
