Ward LeRoy Churchill (born October 2, 1947) is an American writer and political activist. He was a professor of ethnic studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder from 1990 to 2007. (Churchill was dismissed after a University committee found that he had "committed serious, repeated, and deliberate research misconduct". In 2009 a Colorado jury found that Churchill had been wrongly fired.) His work primarily concerns the United States and its historical treatment of political dissenters and of Native Americans in the United States. In these subject areas, he has made numerous controversial and provocative claims, often in a confrontational style.
