Waning Gibbous is an open collective involving dozens of musicians. This album is the group's debut work– a self-titled, hour-length collection of experimental ambient music.
Musicians meet every 28-29 days on the evening of the full moon to record music made up on the spot. This 13-track album is the final product of full-moon recording sessions which took place over the period November 2014 to October 2015.
The recordings are the first in a planned series of eight albums which will run thematically in title from ‘Waning Gibbous’, through the phases of the moon, to the final album ‘Full Moon’– due out some time in 2023.
