Their earlier albums imho sound very much like the sound of a decade, ie after a couple of seconds you inevitably think "oh, that's eighties". Their later albums are much heavier and may be understood if one has a serious metal background.
I always thought that the outer limits is an album that doesn't relate (or is related to as) to a certain decade or era, but is truely timeless. Well, as timeless as a metal album that extends into all kinds of rock genres can be.
Absolute masterpiece. I guess it's underrated because mostly metalheads get into Voivod and expect "harder" stuff.
Really, every single track here is great and even the track order is perfect.
This album is fantastic but it is not THRASH yet it is still Metal. The st three are the best "thrash" VoiVod albums. This and Angel Rat are more progressive metal and are the best of that style. In my opinion, not that anyone asked. Just sayin'.
