The Brown Bunny is the album soundtrack for the film of the same name directed, written and produced by Vincent Gallo. The track-list consists in 10 songs, 5 of them (composed by musician John Frusciante) are not featured in the film. The reason behind this, is that Gallo approach Frusciante during pre-production process of the film, and talked about it, tossing ideas and what was he about to do. John visualize those ideas in his mind and translated into songs, songs that Gallo promised to use as part of the soundtrack for his movie. But when he finish shooting, and started the editing process, he realized the songs didn't fit in any way, what led him to discard them . Though, Gallo expressed his gratitude to John for the effort an considered his songs a spiritual twin of The Brown Bunny.
The song "Tears for Dolphy" by Ted Curson is also part of the soundtrack for the film "Teorema" directed by Italian filmmaker Pier Paolo Passolini. One of Vincent Gallo favorite films.
